It depends entirely on what your state charges, because their $45 is quoted before the state fee and our $50 is quoted after it. If the state charges less than about $5, their total comes in under ours. Once the state charges more than that, ours is lower, and in a state charging $50 the gap is roughly $20.

We deliver most certificates in 1 to 2 business days, and the same day in states whose portals issue instantly. LegalZoom does not publish a processing time for its standard tier; its rush tier is described in terms of 2-day shipping after the certificate is ready, which is a delivery promise rather than a state-processing one.

Do I need an account or a subscription with GetGoodStanding?

No. There is no account to create and nothing that renews. You give the business legal name, the formation state and the entity type, pay once, and track the order with an order number and email. We do not ask for a Social Security number.

What happens if my business is not in good standing?

The state will not issue the certificate to anyone, at any price. We tell you what the record shows, usually an unfiled annual report or unpaid franchise tax, and refund in full so you can fix it and come back. Reinstatement itself is handled by the state and, in some cases, by a firm that specialises in it.
